OK... I found a Sapphire 9500np on the Red PCB for $185.

What do you think?

ouch.... i dunno bro, the soft mods arent guarunteed to work, and even when they DO work i hear there is a strong chance of artifacts

if you can take it back if youre not happy, id say go for it, if its no return, im personally too cheap to gamble with $200

you know that you're not really gonna be able to softmod it up to a "real" 9700, right? that is to say, the memory speed is gonna be way low. how much does an honest to goodness 9700pro cost?

I don't know how much 9700Pros cost... too much is my guess.

I do realize it won't be a true 9700, but that's ok. It's close.
And Better than what I have now.

I thought you could get the 9700 Pro's for $200?

If you can get one for $200 YES! The 9700 Pro is an awesome card....

I dunno the difference between the 3 cards (9500/9600/9700 & Pro's), so maybe someone can fill us in.

he told me he saw a major difference, and he had upgraded from a ti4200

honestly in my opinion, buying any video card over $150 is a waste of money

case in point - you can get geforce 2 MX for about $20 these days
