Should I get 2x

Dell 2001fp, 20.1"

or

Dell 2005fpw, 20.1" widescreen

for side by side on the ergotron arm I have.

Please help me decide in the next few hours.

I voted for the 2001fp. I'd rather have the 2005 if I was doing a single monitor, but with 2 side by side, the 2001 should be PLENTY wide enough (combined). The drawback to the 2005 is the akward resolution can sometimes make programs act/run weird.

I just got 2x 1701fpvs (little brother of the 2001fp) at work TODAY as a matter of fact for my desktop there. They are beautiful. And I mean it, beautiful. absolutly.

But I voted for the widescreen becasue, even tho the bezzle is very thin on them (a lot thinner than the dual monitor setup they replaced) its still just a little tiny bit annoying. Plus if you get the wide screen then you can watch movies and HD broadcasts which you cant span across two monitors.

I still love my dual monitor setup at work tho, so thats really a good option. It depends on what your using if for. I like my dual setup at work becasue its like having two computers in one, things maximize to the corners of the screens but you have free movement between them. Its awefome for doing multiple things at the same tim eon one computer. Which the Optiplex GX280 P4 3.2GHz with 1Gig of RAM and X300 vid card can handle quite well.

we have the 2001fp on some of our computers here at scholl, and let me tell you, those USB ports on the side of the monitor are the coolest and the most useful. expecially when your USB drive wont fit in the front USB ports on the dell towers because of the angle. Very Happy

Haha good choice Blue! Smile The 2001's are nice, but I have read of too many dead pixel problems on them......from what I have read on the 2005's, they seem to be super bad ass! Post pics of them when you get them!

We just got 5 of them in yesterday and none of them had even a single dead pix on it.

Edit: Oh yea, I would also like to reiterate that these are bar none the best FP monitor I have see in person to date. Thats not saying there isnt better out there, but we have about 10 diferent kinds up here at work and thes blow all of them away. Even the other Dell 17" UltraSharps (1702FP).

Edit edit:Oh you said 2005. Sad nevermind. Those may have dead pix on them or not *shrug*

The way I figure it is I'll just buy one 27" LCD and call it good.

I like how they swivle. We have a another brand of FP's here at work the swivle but it was not very easy to do. These you just reach over to and turn, no unlocking or tilting a special way first before you turn them. Very nice.

I just realized you said 2x2005fp's and not 2001fp's so I hope they work out for ya. I'm sure they are just as good only wider than the 2001's.

it's more expensive to buy one 27" lcd than it is to buy 2 20" lcds.

I wanted desktop size. With a larger monitor, you don't gain the pixel dimensions that you do with 2 monitors.
