Your content doesn't go through the plex servers. That's just the auth servers. The client on your phone talks directly to the server on you network.

I run a WDTV Live running wdlxtv in the living room. It pulls the media directly off of the server (WHS 2011). I'm looking to retire that though cause it's clunky especially with netflix and other streaming services.

I'm probably going to look into an OUYA running XBMC when they are finally released. So far the results are impressive.

Boxee is one of the only that can access local media by windows share, but it can't do HULU (because HULU are jackasses). With a streaming service like PS3 Media Server, TVersity, or PlayOn, you can stream to most of the UPnP devices.
