I've heard conflicting reports of the ability to do audio over HDMI coming from the Mini-Display port with an adapter. Have you tried it?

Video only w/ mini-display port. there are adapters available that will inject audio into the signal. I believe the MBP's introduced around April 2010 do support this.

Thats a hell of an adapter

kinda defeats the purpose of a quick access mini port .....
