Eve has been described as a 'space themed' chatroom, and I find it to be a p. accurate description. For a new low skill point player, there are only so many thing's you can do in the game solo, and it makes many people say 'fuck this shit' before their trial is even over.
The game is really awesome if you already love spaceships, but if you don't take advantage of the games social aspects as soon as possible, you will quit playing. I'm not simply talking about having one or two friends that by chance might be online to show you the ropes, I'm saying that you need to join a corporation of like-minded people who play in your timezone, so that whenever you log in, you have friends to do things with.
If you haven't seen the trailer for the new upcoming Dominion patch, it's p. cool. Ships are going to get radical changes, the way alliances hold space sovereignty are getting changes. But like I was saying, eve's real backbone is it's social aspect.
Here's the new trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08hmqyejCYU
Someone in goonfleet was raving about how cool the planets and stars are going to look after the dominion patch, so I jumped on the test server and grabbed this screenie.

I, too, watched Sevnn play eve at the lan a couple of times, and upon my showing intrest in the game to him, I was met with an intense 1 on 1 breakdown of a bunch of shit that went right over my head. But to me, it didn't matter if I understood it. Sevnn had a fire in his eyes about this damn game, and it was unlike nothing I had never seen before. As a person who loves computers, and loves video games, I wanted something like that for myself.
I can remember his wife calling him about 10 times asking him why he hadn't left for home yet, and him telling her 'I'm going to leave in just a second'...and then him going right back to where he had left off to me about how awesome eve was.
The fire is still there Sevnn, come back to us, we miss you.

This is so untrue it's not even funny, I can fly around solo and do all sorts of things, whether it's killing carebears in empire or sneaking around enemy territory in my covert ops ship, there's a ton of things that can be done IF YOU LIKE THE GAME. Also, there's nothing wrong with being in a fleet or small roaming gang, it's fun, it's social, and for me, it's why I play.
You're just not a big enough nerd Brules

If you're still playing eve Brad, I would love to have a real life friend in the alliance to share the lol's with. I really think you'd get a kick out of it dude.
We're currently back to our roots living in syndicate/cloud ring.....right next to empire where the transition for you would be fairly painless. I'm capable of sponsoring up to 3 people atm, but if I recall your SA reg-date correctly.....I don't think you even need me to get you in.
Goons are really burnt up on doing covert hot drops through black ops battleships lately....30 Torp stealth bomber's cyno'ing onto a cocky unsuspecting gate camps is nothing short of hilarity....we of course are shooting a lot of stations and taking space still, but we've learned to put that on the back burner for as long as we can(until we need the money).
I was part of a small gang that tackled a titan a few weeks ago, and it was p. awesome. A lot of yelling in our intel and jabber channels finally got goons to cyno in, and the titan died with less than 60 seconds left on the timer(the pilot logged off when we hictor bubbled him). All of the greatest things to be done in Eve are what we do every day, and that is no shit.
Shoot me a pm here Drix
Here is the logged off titan and my lonely drake shooting it/waiting for the cavalry.

I was on my 1mil SP Caldari alt during all of this, and it sure looks good on her resume. Cry Havoc cyno'd in about 15 carriers to rep/save the titan, but they were too late....we had capswarm on grid by then and nothing survived. I got some noice carrier km's as well..... https://killboard.goonfleet.com/player/Visa%20Declined
