My phenom II x6 1090T is really starting to show its age and im looking to upgrade sometime soon. I would prefer to stay with AMD but it seems their recent CPU's are not so great. So that leaves Intel as my only option. What would be the most cost effective CPU / motherboard combo for a Intel rig?

Depends on if you OC. With vid cards like they are now a days, I would put $ into vid card and run CPU on stock air.

I5 Sandy with a GTX 670 would be beast mode.

I play cheesy games on my PS3......Assasins Creed, Madden, Uncharted etc.......FPS's though, no f'ing way.

Well I decided on a i5 3750k. Im also getting a Asrock Z77 Extreme3 Mobo to go with it.

Not bad for $350.
