Project Overlord nears completion  Reply with quote

After a very long night building and some odd Ram troubleshooting; I am pleased to announce my newest PC build "Overlord" is operational and almost complete!

The NVMe M.2 OS Drive arrived today and after a BIOS update is ready. Just waiting on some exceedingly expensive fans, lighting and Windows 10 to arrive and I can begin the long software side of things.

"Overlord" will be ready for a nice debut at Tax day LAN (minus some dremel work to the case as there is one thing I wish to change on it). This is seriously the cleanest most awesome PC build I have ever done.

Here are some teasers Very Happy

A 5TB black drive for low priority games and general data storage.

And a 280mm AiO Water cooler as I intend to overclock the processor into the....wait for it....Danger Zone!

The final goodies arrived today....machine is up and running......windows 10 is updating like there is no tomorrow right now......\

More Teasers Very Happy

2x Plextor 512gb SSD's. Not the fastest but together in RAID 0 make for a nice games drive for multiplayer and priority games.

256gb Black M.2 drive for the OS all nestled into its new home Smile

Once again my addiction to shiny, flashy objects is my downfall. Replaced the perfectly fine boring black fans in the new case with full RGB awesomeness and a set of LED strips because RGB all the things!

It's actually more subdued then you would think.....but just for you I will have a profile on standby called "The Fucking Sun" and it will be obnoxious as all hell! Razz

So here is the heart of my build. A I7-4790K. Not the latest greatest but I couldn't argue with free Razz

After a night of tinkering with the leet overclocks I managed to get it stable (mostly) at just shy of 4.8 GHz. If I had managed to make 4.9 I would be trying like the dickens to make that big 5-Oh. But 4.8 is a long way from 5 Shocked

A little more tinkering and dialing it in and I think that's is where I am going to stay.
