What Syslog server software?  Reply with quote

We are looking at purchasing Kiwi Syslog mainly for its feature of filtering out unwanted messages. However, before doing so, I was wondering if there were any Windows based GUI OSS syslog servers out there that did this without the need to pay for it.

Anyone know of any that are good?

We've used Kiwi for a couple years. I don't know of anything else.

Why do you need a GUI?

Because I'm old and I'm lazy and I do not feel the need to learn something from scratch for such a simple project. If its in a nice GUI then I can configure using my deductive reasoning and I won't need to pull a paragraph long command line out of my ass. JMHO

sysklogd is one of the simplest linux programs out there.

syslogs are just flat text anyway, you should be able to find and filter to your heart's content with whatever you like

definitely not free, but alot of the better network monitoring apps (whatsupgold, orion, etc) can display, alert, and react to traps and syslog messages in realtime.
